In livestock farming, "preventative action" is a highly understandable mindset. When the weather changes, when animals are moved to new pens, when stocking densities are high, or when there are reports of nearby outbreaks, farmers naturally want to do something to "block the risks upfront."

However, in modern livestock farming, using antibiotics as a blanket "preventative" measure for a healthy herd should not become a regular habit. The issue lies not in the concept of "prevention," but in applying it massively and without a solid clinical basis.
